Hyderabad: The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has approved the Sainik Residential School of Telangana Social Welfare in Karimnagar, as a Sainik School. The school was among 21 new Sainik schools approved for establishment on Saturday by the Union government in partnership with NGOs, private schools and state governments.
The new schools will be separate from the existing Sainik schools. These new schools, in addition to their affiliation with the respective school boards, will operate under the aegis of the Sainik Schools Society and follow the rules and regulations in partnership mode prescribed by the Society, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.
In addition to their regular Affiliate Counseling program, the schools will also provide Academic Plus Curriculum instruction to students in the Sainik school model, he said.
Admissions to these new Sainik schools will be at the Class VI level. At least 40% of Class VI Admissions will be admitted by candidates who have qualified in the All-India Sainik School Entrance Examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) through online counseling.
“Up to 60% of admissions will come from students enrolled in the same school and willing to be admitted into this vertical of the new Sainik schools through a qualifying test, the notification of which will be issued separately,” said he said, adding that 17 of these schools were Brownfield Schools of Management while four were Greenfield Schools due to be operational shortly.
The academic session of the new Sainik schools is expected to start in the first week of May 2022, he added. Details of how these schools operate are available at www.sainikschool.ncog.gov.in.
