BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appreciated the implementation of the CM Rise School program, good governance initiatives and other welfare measures in Madhya Pradesh. He also praised the success of vaccination campaigns in the state. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the Prime Minister Thursday evening in New Delhi.
Chouhan briefed Modi on the Covid-19 situation in PD and the pace of vaccination, as well as the progress of various social protection programs.
Chouhan told the prime minister that the corona infection is under control in the state and there are currently only 127 active cases. About 88% of people in the state received the first dose of the vaccine and 27% of people received the second dose.
Chouhan also informed the Prime Minister of the CM Rise School program. He told her that 350 schools are opened under the program across the state to provide quality education. Schools will be equipped with facilities such as a playground, library and laboratories and bus facilities will also be made available to students.
Chouhan said 2023 has been declared by the United Nations as the year of coarse grains and the MP is encouraging self-help groups producing nutritious coarse grains such as kodo kutki. He also said that the MP would become a model state by balancing high and low production crops and that crops with high export potential would be promoted. During a discussion on crop diversification and commercial farming, Modi suggested that the state explore the possibility of growing sandalwood, so that farmers can derive more benefits from it.
During the state government’s ethanol policy discussion, Chouhan informed that 28 companies have applied for ethanol production in the state. Cereals produced in excess can be used to make ethanol, he said.
Chouhan held consultations with the Prime Minister on various topics to strengthen the state’s good governance system. He also informed that Deendayal committees have been formed at the panchayat level for effective implementation of government programs.
Chouhan informed Modi that he is performing a physical verification of the benefits passed on to people by directly interacting with the public during his Jandarshan programs. He also invited Modi to the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Bhopal railway station and the Tribal Pride Day to be held on November 15.
