BARIPADA: A Class X student from a government-run tribal boarding school was found dead on Thursday under mysterious circumstances in the village of Pandupani, within Fating police limits. The deceased was identified as Muna Marandi (15) from Dharamdihi village.

Sources said Marandi fell asleep after dinner on Wednesday night but was unresponsive when his housemates tried to wake him the next day. After getting information, the hostel superintendent and other staff informed the boy’s mother, Daangi Marandi, who immediately reached the hostel and rushed him to Tiring Hospital. where doctors pronounced him dead.

Speaking to the media, Deputy District Welfare Officer (ADWO), Suresh Chandra Jitubabu said Muna’s health condition was good. He would have played with his roommates after lessons in the afternoon and after that he would have gone to the hostel for evening chores. After having dinner, he fell asleep but did not wake up the next morning.

As the news spread, Jharkhand District Deputy Chairman Mukti Morcha and former MLA Prahalad Purti along with other party workers reached the subdivision hospital and asked for insurance. Rs 20 lakh which tribal students are entitled to as well as Rs 20,000 from the District Red Cross. to the mother of the deceased.

Meanwhile, Tiring IIC Prafulla Kumar Barik said the body had been seized and the exact cause of death would be determined after the autopsy report arrived. The district social service provided Rs 5,000 free of charge to the mother of the deceased. A case of unnatural death has been registered but no complaint has been filed by the boy’s parents so far.
