Deborah A. Wiggins, 69 and longtime resident of Warsaw, died at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
Born in Michigan City, IN on January 26, 1953, Deb, as most knew her, was the daughter of Wilbert and Gloria (Chlebowski) Green.
She was a 1971 graduate of Elston High School and a 1975 graduate of Purdue University.
On September 26, 1980, Deb was married to Ernest “Ernie” Wiggins. The couple shared almost forty-two years together before his passing.
Professionally, Deb has spent much of her career in non-profit organizations and in education, two areas she was passionate about. She has served as Executive Director of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, National Consortium of Breast Centers, and has held a variety of other positions including Boards of Directors for the League for Wellness of Kosciusko County Animals, the Catherine Peachey Fund and the Warsaw Community School Board, where she served as President. She also taught at the Redeemer Lutheran School and was an avid reader, especially of crime fiction and science fiction.
Very present in the lives of her children, she rarely missed an event or a sporting activity during their childhood. She loved being a grandmother and was thrilled to soon welcome a fourth grandchild; she enjoyed spending time around the pool and at family events. Deb also loved euchre and had a heart for animals. She is remembered for her toughness, fiery personality, and dedicated, passionate manner.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include her husband, Ernie Wiggins of Warsaw; sons, Christopher “Chris” Wiggins (wife, Sarah) of Warsaw and Elizabeth “Liz” German (husband, Christopher) of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren: Nash, Stella and Crew Wiggins and her sister, Kathryn Pasky (husband, Michael) of Michigan City. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Gilbert Green.
